Frequently Asked Questions
What does “juried gallery” mean?
As a juried gallery, we thoughtfully review each artist’s submission to ensure work meets our standards for quality, originality, and presentation. We look for professional craftsmanship, a cohesive body of work, and creative vision that aligns with the values of Harbor City Art.
Who can apply?
We welcome applications from emerging and established artists and makers working in a variety of mediums including—but not limited to—painting, ceramics, pottery, fiber arts, jewelry, glasswork, basketry, woodworking, and mixed media.
What is the jury process?
After submitting your application, our jury panel will review your work and artist statement. You’ll receive a response within 2–3 weeks. If accepted, we’ll follow up with display guidelines, commission structure, and setup instructions.
How do you select artists?
Selections are based on originality, craftsmanship, consistency of work, and how well the artist’s style complements the overall aesthetic and mission of the gallery.
Is there a fee to participate?
Yes. Accepted artists pay a monthly display fee and a small commission on sales. These fees help cover gallery operations and promotional efforts. Exact terms will be shared upon acceptance.
Do you accept workshop proposals?
Absolutely! We’re actively building a schedule of classes and creative experiences. Workshop leaders should submit a proposal outlining the class description, duration, pricing, and material needs.
