Common Stone Pottery

Deborah J. Speer is the ceramic artist behind Common Stone Pottery, a Melbourne, Florida studio known for its beautifully crafted stoneware. Her pottery journey began in 1993 with a class at Brooks Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, sparking a lifelong love of clay. The name Common Stone Pottery was inspired by a song written by a young girl named Orion—one that spoke to how God can use a simple cup made of common stone. That message resonated deeply with Deborah, who believes that ordinary people can be called to do extraordinary things. Her work, both wheel-thrown and hand-built, reflects that belief—functional, meaningful, and made to be cherished. Each piece is created with intention and care, offering a blend of beauty, utility, and spirit. Deborah also shares her passion through small pottery classes, nurturing creativity and connection in others.
