Creativity & Aging

Summer is off to an active start at Harbor City Art, with ongoing classes, new workshops, returning students, and fresh creative projects underway throughout the gallery and studios.

Over the past year, one of the most rewarding things has been watching students try unfamiliar materials, develop new skills, and build confidence through hands-on creative work. From watercolor and basketry to pottery and glass, Harbor City Art continues to grow as a place for learning, experimentation, and creativity.

CREATIVITY & AGING

Did you know that creative activities may actually support healthy aging?

Recent studies have found that regular participation in arts and cultural activities—including painting, music, crafts, and other hands-on creative experiences—may be linked to slower biological aging and stronger cognitive engagement over time.

At Harbor City Art, we see every week how meaningful it can be when people step away from screens, learn new skills, work with their hands, and create alongside others in a welcoming studio environment.
