Dorothy Koliba
Dorothy Koliba is an award-winning professional artist who has been painting most of her life. She began her artistic journey in oils but transitioned to watercolor after developing an allergy to oil paint fumes. That shift opened the door to what would become her true passion—capturing the world through the softness and fluidity of watercolor.
Dorothy paints a wide range of subjects and is known for her skilled use of color and depth to create vibrant, emotive works of art. She has shared her knowledge through teaching at senior centers, art centers, and even a local high school. Her contributions to the art community include giving live painting demonstrations, serving on art show committees, and participating in outdoor art fairs, gallery exhibitions, and juried shows. She was honored as Artist-in-Residence for three consecutive years in Belleville, Michigan.
A devoted plein air painter, Dorothy finds endless inspiration in the natural world. “Nature has taught me to appreciate my surroundings,” she says. “I feel fortunate to share the beauty that surrounds us every day.”
