Classic Reed Basket Trio Workshop | Make Three Beautiful Baskets

Discover the art of traditional basket weaving in this beginner-friendly workshop. Using reed and wooden slotted bases, you’ll learn the fundamentals of stake-and-strand basketry while creating a charming collection of handcrafted baskets designed for everyday use throughout the home. These versatile baskets are ideal for organizing tea bags, coffee supplies, candies, jewelry, sewing notions, craft materials, desk accessories, toiletries, small collectibles, and other cherished treasures.

During class, students will complete at least one basket while learning essential basket-making techniques including setting stakes, weaving continuous rows, shaping a basket, and finishing the rim. These are the same foundational skills used in many larger traditional reed baskets.

Each participant will receive enough materials to create three baskets. The trio includes an oval basket, a rectangle basket, and a square basket, providing an opportunity to practice and build confidence with your new weaving skills.

By the end of class, you’ll have learned a traditional basket-weaving technique and gained the confidence to continue weaving on your own. Once you’ve mastered these basic skills, you’ll be well prepared to explore larger and more advanced basket projects in the future.

All materials are included. No prior basket-weaving experience is necessary.

Finished basket sizes:
• Oval Basket: approximately 5” × 7” × 4.5” tall
• Rectangle Basket: approximately 4” × 5.5” × 4” tall
• Square Basket: approximately 4” × 4” × 3.75” tall
