Fiona Crump
Fiona Crump is a colored-pencil artist specializing in highly detailed pet portraits and wildlife art that honor the profound bond between humans and animals. Born in Scotland and raised in South Florida, Fiona has always been deeply influenced by nature, light, and the quiet stories shared between people and their beloved pets.
Her artistic journey began more than twenty years ago, first through acrylic painting inspired by a close childhood friend. Acrylic landscapes taught her patience, expression, and color — and sparked a lifelong creative calling. Five years ago, Fiona discovered colored pencil as her primary medium, drawn to its ability to capture delicate fur textures, soulful eyes, and subtle emotion with extraordinary precision.
Two mischievous corgi brothers — her own loyal companions — first inspired her to pursue animal portraiture. Their personalities and humor became the heart of her work and fueled her passion for capturing the spirit and individuality of every pet she draws. As her practice evolved, Fiona found special meaning in creating memorial portraits of pets who had passed, offering families a way to hold onto cherished memories even when photographs no longer captured their essence.
In 2023, after relocating to Melbourne, Florida for a career in IT, Fiona made the bold decision to pursue her art full-time. Today, she is the artist behind Pet Portraits by Fiona, where she creates heartfelt, lifelike pet portraits that serve as lasting tributes to love, loyalty, and companionship.
Whether depicting a cherished family pet, a spirited horse, or a scene from the natural world, Fiona believes animals are not just subjects — they are muses, companions, and forever part of our story.
